Takahide was one of Honda’s top engineers who specialized in designing racing engines. It was Takahide who designed the 1972 RC125M. Later in his career Mr. Miyata was the chief engineer at HRC for engine design. Some amazing engines were designed and built under his direction. Mr. Miyata was also looking forward to the opening of the IMM and would gladly answer questions we had. His legacy will live on in the museum.
On April 30th 2022, Four persons TAKAHIDE MIYATA, KOUJI ASHIMORI, HIROYUKI FUJISAWA, and I (Holly) held the party named [The fiftieth anniversary meeting of Elsinore put on sale] in Hotel Shinsayama and fifty people were related to Honda 2 stroke gathered.
I mentioned the incident that TAKAHIDE MIYATA presented the con’rod to TAICHI YOSHIMURA. MASAFUMI HORIGUCHI wrote.
Mr. MIYATA said「 RC125M that employed JMX since ’72 season a 7th race and finished first in a 9th race at ASO (Kumamoto Meeting) by Mr. TAICH.
During this race, the connecting rod burned 100 meters after the finish line. If the finish line would have been 100 meters further, Taichi and the RC125 would not have finished. This was the first ever 125 win for Honda.
After the race in 1972, I took the engine apart and kept the con’rod all this time. I want to present Mr. TAICHI YOSHIMURA with this con’rod as for memento of today.
Mr. YOSHIMURA said Thank you so much I want to say to my team staff and riders to be the rider who get the memorial things 50years after.
This con’rod presentation to HOLLY from Mr. YOSHIMURA later. Then Mr. Holly donated the connecting rod to the IMM to be on display with the 1972 RC125M.
